  1. Mindset

When you want to lose weight, you need to have the RIGHT mindset for it. You need to make a decision to lose weight.

Most people ‘fall off the wagon’ because they started the weight loss journey without the right mindset. Not having the right mindset will get you having a lot of challenges in your quest to lose weight.

Make a decision on what you want to do and how you want to do it. You can even decide to write your own weightloss commandments.

Understand that it is not easy and make up your mind to do it to the end.

  1. Support System

When starting to do something new and challenging, you need to have a strong support system. Have with you people who will cheer you on and you start on your weight loss journey.

Have people who are positive surround you. Negative people will make you lose morale and stop your journey without achieving your weight loss goal.

If you notice that there is that one person who always tells you that your goal is unachievable, drop them.

  1. Eat Healthy, snack healthy, and watch out for the portions

Eating healthy is very important in weight loss. If you are one who finds it hard to eat healthy, it is time to get rid of all the junk in your house and stock up on healthy foods.

Getting rid of junk will ensure that when you are hungry, you do not grab an unhealthy snack just because it is ready. When you start snacking healthy in your house, you will, at most times, be able to snack on healthy foods when outside the house.

Healthy Eating

As much as you are to eat healthy, you should watch out for the portions as well. Have small meals during appropriate meal times and have a healthy snack when hungry.

  1. Cut down on carbs to lose weight

Carbohydrates give us the fuel our body needs but when you are 200lbs and over, carbohydrates help store a lot of fat as most of it is not being digested as it should. Cutting down on carbohydrates will have your body work with the fats that had previously been stored in your body and in turn, help you lose weight.

  1. Eat more “good” proteins

As you cut down on carbs, you should strive to have healthy proteins with every meal. High-quality proteins such as lean chicken breast and whole eggs will have you feeling full for a longer periods. This in turn increases the speed of your weight loss success.

  1. Exercise

Many people think that exercise does not play a major role in weight loss. On the contrary, it actually does.

Start slow by doing easy workouts and gradually increase your exercise routine. It is advisable you start with bodyweight resistance training that will help you tone up as you lose weight.

This will help you prevent loose skin as you work hard towards losing weight.

  1. Believe in yourself

If you do not believe that you can do it, you will not do it. Believe in yourself and believe that you will be able to hit your target weight loss goal.

When you believe in yourself and have the right mindset, you will be able to always push yourself harder, especially when you feel like you want to give up.

If you follow these 7 steps, you will be sure to lose weight and not gain it right back. It is a lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle that you will fall in love with and want to maintain for life.
